About Deccan Exotics

Founded in 2016 in Telangana by Dr. Srinivas Rao Madhavaram, a medical doctor, alongside Mr. Chandra Shekar Rao and Mr. Prasad Rao, Deccan Exotics is a farmer-led initiative rooted in the agricultural community. Established to address the challenges faced by farmers in Telangana and semi-arid regions of Central India, the Deccan Exotics Farmer Producer Organization (FPO), formed in 2020, has empowered over 3,500 farmers across 23 states. By introducing high-value horticulture crops like dragon fruit, avocado, and macadamia to Indian markets on a commercial scale, we drive economic viability and sustainable growth.

What We Do

  • Introduce high-yielding, globally sourced cultivars of dragon fruit, avocado, and macadamia, tailored to India’s diverse climates.
  • Operate a state-of-the-art nursery in Hyderabad with a capacity of over 45,000 plants annually, including an approved quarantine center for importing and distributing saplings at affordable prices.
  • Propagate advanced clonal rootstocks in collaboration with global partners, establishing mother blocks to reduce reliance on imports.
  • Manage a 40-acre rootstock trial block in Hyderabad, testing varieties across diverse soil types (clay with 20% lime, sandy, sandy loam) to optimize production.
  • Provide end-to-end solutions, from nursery to market, including processing into oils, pulps, and powders for value addition and export of fresh fruits.

How We Help

Deccan Exotics supports farmers by bridging the gap between scientific innovation and traditional farming. We offer free technical training through field visits, seminars, workshops, and an online YouTube channel, fostering a nationwide network for knowledge sharing. Our research and development efforts, including commercial trials, ensure farmers have access to cutting-edge cultivation techniques and market opportunities, enhancing their livelihoods through sustainable, export-oriented agriculture.
