Dragon Fruit: The Exotic Superfruit

Dragon Fruit (Hylocereus spp.), also known as Pitaya or Strawberry Pear, is a vibrant superfruit originating from the tropical and subtropical forests of Mexico, Central, and South America. Recognized by the USFDA as a superfruit in 2013, it is now cultivated in 22 countries, with Vietnam leading global exports, contributing 55% of its fruit export revenue. At Deccan Exotics India F.P.O., we cultivate over 27 high-yielding dragon fruit varieties at our 40-acre Sangareddy farm, focusing on hybrids with rich flavor (up to 21 Brix) and export quality. Our collaboration with SOFRI-Vietnam ensures access to advanced cultivation techniques, empowering Indian farmers to meet global demand with premium, nutrient-packed dragon fruit.

Deccan Exotics cultivates dragon fruit varieties like Hylocereus undatus, Hylocereus megalanthus, and Hylocereus polyrhizus, known for their vibrant colors, mildly sweet flavor, and kiwi-like texture with tiny edible black seeds. Sourced from top global farms in Vietnam, Thailand, and Israel, our saplings are grown using clonal propagation at our Sangareddy nursery, ensuring self-pollination, heat tolerance, and disease resistance. Our hybrids, developed with SOFRI-Vietnam, achieve high Brix (up to 21) and long shelf life, ideal for fresh consumption, smoothies, desserts, and salads.
